Minneapolis, MN. (February 9, 2015) — As of February 2015, Harris Companies’ work on the U.S. Bank Stadium is one-third complete. Overall, the project is on schedule to meet its original completion goal of July 2016.
At this time, over 80 Harris’ sheet metal workers, plumbers, and pipefitters are working on many different stages of the build-out. On the west side of the site Earthwork and underground plumbing is ongoing. On the east side, where construction began in the parking lot of the old Metrodome, roof decking and catwalk duct installation is beginning.
In keeping with original goals, all of mechanical systems are being modeled, fabricated, and preassembled before arriving on site. Tested systems, placed on skids, will arrive “just in time” to the jobsite this month, helping to alleviate space issues and work within the tight schedule. Initial testing and check out of equipment on site has already begun to aid in the commissioning and start-up schedule.
- Recent significant work completed:
- Upper bowl duct hung off of the catwalk has started.
- Event Level multi-trade (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection) pipe rack is 25% tested and installed.
24 of 54 air handling units are set in place and tested. 12 of these will provide temporary heating and cooling by Fall 2015.Click here to learn more about our work on the new home of the Minnesota Vikings.
