Allina Central Laboratory

The Central Laboratory project consolidated the services provided by over 50 laboratories into one core lab located on the Abbott Northwestern campus in Minneapolis. Built on the second floor of an Allina warehouse, the total construction area covers approximately 76,000 square feet. The Central Laboratory Facility serves 11 Allina hospitals, 49 Allina medical clinics, 13 Aspen clinics, five Quello clinics and several specialty care services. More than 400 people working in Abbott Northwestern campus labs moved into the new lab which is one of the largest and most developed medical labs in the region.

Working under M.A. Mortenson, Harris provided plumbing, piping, HVAC, temperature controls and fire protection services for the project. Our BIM and manufacturing efforts helped to dramatically accelerate the construction schedule and eased the productivity management of a large work force. Harris totaled approximately 32,000 hours worked within a nine-month construction schedule.
