Alta Bates Summit Medical Center Merritt Pavilion

Utilizing Lean construction techniques and an integrated project delivery shared risk/reward contract, Harris performed design-assist HVAC and virtual design and construction (VDC) services for the new Alta Bates Medical Center Merritt Pavilion. The new, 250,000-square foot medical facility is a state-of-the-art medical/surgical patient tower with acute rehabilitation services, on-premises pharmacy and nuclear medicine. This iconic building also brings the campus into compliance with California’s strict seismic safety requirements.

The Merritt Pavilion was designed to connect to several existing hospital campus structures. Harris needed to complete its work without disrupting hospital operations and took extra steps to ensure infection control systems were in place and that patient and staff safety were the highest priority.
