Arizona Supreme Court Central Plant

The Arizona Supreme Court building’s outdated chillers needed an upgrade. Harris was awarded the project to demolish and install a new central plant alongside MS Square Construction.

The new plant required a highly scheduled and implemented phasing plan to tie-in two temporary chillers to provide the cooling load for the facility during construction.

The scope of work involved demolition of all existing central plant equipment including the existing ice chillers, water chiller, pumps, piping, controls and electrical. The only plant equipment that remained were the existing cooling towers. New equipment, piping, controls and electrical were installed, including three 300-ton Trane centrifugal water chillers, three new primary pumps, two new secondary pumps and variable frequency drives (VFDs).

Thanks to the efforts of the entire construction team, the project was completed on-time and without any interruption to the daily operations and cooling demand of the facility.
