Cambrex Charles City Plant
Prefabrication will help HiMEC complete pharmaceutical project on an aggressive timetable
Location:Charles City, IA
HiMEC was recently awarded a multi-million dollar project at Cambrex in Charles City, IA. Cambrex is a global company that researches, develops and manufactures pharmaceutical products. The Charles City plant is one of two in the US. They are expanding their facility through multiple phases over the next few years.
The current expansion involves a new building, which will house eight new reactors, and an outside tank farm. HiMEC’s scope of work includes installing carbon steel, orbital welded stainless steel, fiberglass, and Teflon and polypropylene lined process piping systems to serve the new facility.
The schedule on this project is very aggressive and extensive prefabrication is key to our success. By using the detailed BIM model, we are able to accurately prefabricate nearly all piping assemblies in our fabrication facility in Zumbrota, MN to reduce the labor, time and tools needed at the jobsite.
