For the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Faribault medium-security, level-three facility, HiMEC Mechanical provided complete design build mechanical services for the multi-phased expansion and renovation. The project included the addition of three new living units, program buildings (psychological, religious, volunteer and education services), the dining/kitchen area, and the renovation of the senior care/special needs facility. Both the expansion and renovation occurred on a fast track with multiple bid-packs allowing prison operations to continue during construction.
HiMEC provided plumbing, heating piping, and HVAC for this multi-million dollar expansion. Due to work being performed in an occupied facility, special security procedures were followed to ensure the safety of HiMEC employees as well as the general public.
