Providence North Pavilion Medical and Cancer Center

Located adjacent to the existing Portland Medical Center, the Providence North Pavilion Medical and Cancer Center is an 11-story, 490,000-square foot building that houses physicians who specialize in major tumor types as well as internationally recognized researchers performing bench-to-bedside clinical trials. The facility also includes a learning center, a holistic health and counseling center, laundry facilities and a spa.

A state-of-the-art, 100 percent outside air system with high accuracy airflow terminal units provide constant pressure relationships, helping minimize the spread of infection throughout the hospital. Additionally, oversized air handling units reduce fan pressures. This, along with a heat recovery system for all air handling units, greatly lower their overall energy usage.

Harris was awarded the contract to install over 1 million pounds of ductwork for this project. Over a seven-month span, Harris installed all ductwork with a peak crew of 60 workers using just-in-time delivery of the manufactured and fully assembled ductwork modules that arrived in pre-loaded large rolling bins. Due to the lack of work space at the site, this type of delivery and the rolling bin on-site distribution system enabled the Harris field team to unload ductwork from the trailers more efficiently and install it directly in the facility eliminating the need for a staging area a reducing installation time.
